Our recent conference with the states concluded that the destiny of the natives of aboriginal origin, but not of the full blood, lies in their ultimate absorption by the people of the Commonwealth, and we therefore recommend that all efforts be directed to that end.

Indigenous perspective

As the first inhabitants of this country we have declared January 26th, Australia Day, a Day of Mourning. We want full citizen status for all Aboriginals and civil equality with white Australians, including equality in education, labour laws, workers compensation, pensions, land ownership and wages.
